The wildlife as seen in South Georgia

A Bull Elephant Seal roars his way up the beach at Stromness Harbour.

There is abundant wildlife in South Georgia and it is a joy to watch. The birds and animals have no need for fear of humans. As long as one does not get too close, most of the birds and animals are content to carry on as normal and share their time and space with you.

Among the images shown are Southern Elephant Seals also known as Sea Elephants (Mirounga leonina), South Georgia Fur Seals (Arctocephalus tropicalis gazella), Eurasian Reindeer (Rangifer tarandus), King Penguins (Aptenodytes p. patagonica), Gentoo Penguins (Pygoscelis papua), Chinstrap Penguins (Pygoscelis antarctica), Snowy Sheathbill (Chionis alba), Blue-eyed Cormorant (Phalacrocorax atriceps georgianus) and the Antarctic Skua also known as the Brown Skua (Catharacta skua Ionnbergi)
