Stromness Harbour Machine Tools
There are lathes of all types and sizes to cope with any
job that may crop up. The belt drive for this lathe can be seen at the right
hand side of the picture.
The roof has partially come down in section of the machine shop
complex and the machine tools are exposed to the elements. The drive pulleys and
belts can still be seen. There was an elaborate system of pulleys throughout
these machine shops and maintenance of the systems must have been a major task.
