Images taken during Bill’s time in Stromness and Leith Harbour.

A slideshow of images taken in Stromness during the season and the winter.  Both the old and new floating docks can be seen.  Bill stayed for the winter maintenance and you can see that the depth of snow in the streets made getting to work quite difficult.

Though these images were in his albums, my uncle swore that he took no part in the slaughter.

The images show the shooting of the whales, buoying the carcasses off for the tenders to come and tow them back to Leith Harbour, and the flensing and cutting up of the carcasses ready for processing.
